The King of the Hammers is known as the hardest one day off road race in the world. There are four classes for full size vehicles which include Unlimited-4400s, Legends-4800s, Modified-4500s, and Stock-4600s.
We race in the 4800 class. This class is limited to cars with solid axles in the front and rear, two seats, one shock per corner, and 37 inch tall DOT approved tires. The cars racing in 4800 are the closest to traditional rock crawling buggies that have roared off the starting line at the inaugural King of the Hammers.
Today, the 4800 cars race in the Everyman Challenge, starting with a mixed field including the 4500 and 4600 cars. The Everyman Challenge is typically the day before the 4400 race and is truly the grass roots base of Ultra 4 racing. The EMC is becoming an extremely competitive race with the 4800 class having the most entries as it is well suited to both older 4400 cars modified to run in 4800 and newly built cars that were always intended to run in 4800.
